I am a retired elementary school teacher. I taught in Calaveras county, Marin County, and overseas. Art has always had a special place in my life. But it was not until I moved to St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands that I began to paint. Here I had the opportunity to study watercolor under Bud Hawes, a well-known East Coast artist. After leaving the islands I moved to Saudi Arabia, where I became active in the Ras Tanura Art Association. I won best of show for one of my watercolor paintings. After leaving Arabia I moved to Arnold, which has been my home since 1979. Dorner Schueler was my next teacher and inspiration. He introduced me to the wonders of the Sierra foothills and how these scenes lent themselves to the watercolor medium. I have always loved the richness, the vibrancy that watercolor offers. Some of the artists I have studied under have been Dana-Sue Palemone, Jill Figler, Jane Hofstetter, Zoltan Szabo, and Christopher Shenk. I am an active member of the Golden Palette Art Association and Arts of Bear Valley.
