David Lutz |
David Lutz was born and raised on the Central Coast in California. His photography interests began in his high school yearbook and journalism classes. He also took several photography classes while earning an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo. After college he changed direction and moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming to earn an Airframe and Powerplant license and become an aircraft mechanic. Upon graduation he went to work for Pan Am at San Francisco International Airport. After 2 years he was hired by United Airlines. While at United he transferred to the Technical Publications department and learned about desktop publishing.
After a downturn in the airline industry he worked temporary desktop publishing jobs for a year before being hired by Sun Microsystems, Inc. As a desktop publisher he helped Sun's internal education group, SunU, with creating and printing training documentation and materials. In 1997 he started a desktop/web publishing consulting business, Digital Publishing Solutions, and continues to work with Sun Microsystems, Oracle, and other corporate education centers. In 2000, he moved to Calaveras County after living in the Bay Area for 10 years.
His interest in computers helped him transition from 35mm cameras to digital SLRs. He continues to strive to create the finest images and learn as much as possible about photography and digital imaging. He specializes in wildlife, sports, and event photography. He also provides Giclee printing services to local artists.
He is a member of Arts of Bear Valley and his work has been shown at the Firehouse Gallery in Murphys and at the annual Arts of Bear Valley shows in Bear Valley and the Calaveras Big Trees State Park.
David resides in Arnold, California with his wife, Veronica and son, Jaime.
