Helen's oils and watercolors depict her involvement with, and love of color. She loves to play one color against another to obtain a vibrant and exciting effect. Helen paints in oils because of the versatility of the medium and the richness of the colors. With watercolors she says "there are always surprises when the colors start to react with one another during the pouring process or while glazing." Helen is a resident of Vallecito, California having moved from Santa Rosa, California in 1992. Her art education was obtained through community college classes, workshops and private lessons. She has exhibited in the Professional Division at the Sonoma and Calaveras County Fairs, winning numerous awards. Her recent accomplishments include acceptance to the Central California Arts League Show at the Gallo Winery in Modesto, winning an Honorable Mention for her oil painting "Pink Poppies." She was also accepted into the Stockton Art League Show at the Haggin Museum, winning the Catherine Armstrong Award, again for "Pink Poppies." Helen is a member of Arts of Bear Valley, the Calavaras County Arts Council, Koinonias Art Club and member and Past President of Golden Palette Art Association. Her work may be seen at many seasonal and professional art shows as well as local businesses.
