Since I retired from civil engineering in 1992, I have been able to spend much more of my time pursuing a love for art that I have had since I was a child. I didn’t take up oil painting until I was an adult, and though I sometimes use other media, I work primarily in oils. I have had some formal training, but I am mostly self-taught and have been inspired by a variety of artist ranging from Rembrandt to Rockwell. As a result, my choice of subjects varies widely, from portraits of people and animals to landscapes to whimsical themes. I sometimes like to work from my imagination to paint scenes wherein each viewer might find a different and personal story.
My wife, who is a writer, and I bought a cabin in Arnold in 1980. Five years later we built our home just across the lake, where we have spent most of our time since 1995, and where I currently have my studio.
